Environmental Control
Environmental Control has been defined as a device that enables the user to use and control electric machines and installations in his/her environment. Many electric installations are poorly suited to wheelchair users. Moving a light switch or setting up a control panel to control curtains often solves a practical problem. Increased self sufficiency gives a disabled person more confidence and improves his/her quality of life.
Our objective has been to develop as simple solutions as possible with respect to installation and use. During the development phase we soon found out that the system had to be easy to adjust both with respect to the number of functions and control alternatives. The “Picomed” system has been based on the Lego principle and can be easily adapted therefore to suit the user’s function level.
Experience has shown that users who install a few, but important functions to begin with, are those who are most satisfied. Becoming gradually accustomed to equipment and acquiring experience usually helps a person to adapt the possiblities of technical aids.
